People all over the world know that something needs to be done. But from the immediate comfort of their homes, it is easy to dismiss it as something that can wait until later. To most, disappearing species lose their sense of urgency when they turn on the TV and see them alive and well. Disappearing rainforest means little when they've never seen one. Let alone one on fire. And yet, the world continues to change. Habitats are destroyed and polluted a little bit every day. A little bit by everyone. When we throw plastic bags in the trash that eventually find their way to the ocean and are eaten by turtles. When we drive our huge cars and add a little more carbon dioxide to the air. When another year goes by and we opt not to get involved in the solution.

IT MAY NOT BE ENOUGH TO VISIT THE RAINFOREST AND SEE IT BEFORE ITS GONE.... BUT ITS A START.
Costa Rica offers habitat for species from both North and South America making it one of the most diverse places for wildlife in the world. Every visit to this remarkable country opens up people's views of the world dramatically. Its just not possible to visit this lush environment and not be awed. Awed by 600 lb turtles nesting on its beaches. Awed by forest so thick and hot that it creates its own weather and is shrouded in its own fog 90% of the time. Awed by the number of national parks packed with wild plants and animals. But at the same time also awed by the poachers that take the eggs from those turtles. By the rainforest not in national parks that is burning to make room for a handful of cows. Its just not possible to return home from a trip to Costa Rica and not have your eyes opened. What you do about it after that is up to you, but ignoring it is no longer an option.

In a nutshell, we are an organization that takes teachers and their students to Costa Rica. Why? Because we believe that there is no better way to truly affect a person's view of the world without involving them directly. |

We know through years of experience that to tell a student that turtles are large or old or worth saving means little to the average teenager. But to bring them to see these dinosaurs first hand, will affect them in a way that will stay with them forever.

Ecodestination is a Costa Rican company dedicated to the preservation and protection of tropical ecosystems and organisms in Costa Rica. |

We do this through 9 or 12 day authentic science expeditions with student groups designed to give the world's future leaders, personal experience and real perspective into why we need to work to save these fragile treasures.

HANDS ON SCIENCE
Ecodestination works in partnership with Serafin Station turtle research station to continue the research and protection of the Leatherback and Green sea turtles that nest on the Caribbean shores. We bring student groups to work directly with professional turtle biologists, collecting data, tagging, and collecting eggs to be reburied in protected pens where they will be safe from poachers and predators.
In addition, Ecodestination supports other local groups and organizations like the BriBri indigenous school at Namu Woku in the Talamanca region of Costa Rica and the Endangered Great Green Macaw habitat restoration projects. |

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT THAN THE REST OF THE TOUR COMPANIES... |

Ecodestination sets itself apart from the rest of the groups that send groups to Costa Rica in two distinct ways: |

1. Because we are a Costa Rican company and not an American business, we are able to negotiate prices for activities, hotels and food at lower prices than other companies. |
| |
This translates into more activities than any other company can offer. Where our competition offers trips to Costa Rica for 10-11 days, and offer 10-12 activities (or less), we are able to offer 12 day trips, with over 20 different activities for the same price or even lower. |

2. We are the only program that believes in a True All-Inclusive package. Through years of feedback from groups that have travelled with us as well as other companies, the number one
most common bit of feedback we received was that groups didn't like being nickeled and dimed to death on the trip. Many programs feel that the single most important aspect of marketing and sales is low sticker price. |

But upon further study, their price is actually very misleading. They advertise a trip to Costa Rica for a set amount, but then when groups arrive, they find that not all the meals are paid for, |

that some activities are "optional", meaning the group has to come up with more money to do them. They find that there are large tips that are expected by the guides or that they need to do laundry, but that the service isn't free and the company doesn't cover it. |

Based on these complaints, Ecodestination has created a True All Inclusive package that covers everything down to tips for the guides, snacks for the students, and even a couple bucks for souvenirs. There was once a time when we told people that they only thing they had to bring was a few dollars if they wanted to buy a T-shirt, but we built that in too.
